1. Audi Q8

Starting price: $71,995 to $82,895
Selling points: High-class cabin, plenty of legroom
Weak spot: Mediocre fuel economy
The Audi Q8 is basically a smaller and sportier version of the family-oriented, three-row Q7. Its 335-horsepower V6 combines with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro AWD to accelerate this zippy SUV to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds. Unfortunately, an EPA-estimated fuel economy of just 20 mpg puts it behind several competitors.
In typical Audi fashion, the cabin is full of premium materials and top-notch tech. Even the base model is fitted with a fully-digital instrument cluster, forward-collision warning with automatic braking, built-in navigation, heated front seats, and a sunroof. Upper trims add massaging and ventilated seats, leather armrests, enhanced driver-assistance tech, wireless charging, and more.

2. BMW X5

Starting price: $61,595 to $84,095
Selling points: Plug-in hybrid option, state-of-the-art cabin
Weak spot: Inferior visibility
The
BMW X5
is all about cabin comforts. Leather upholstery is standard, as are dual touchscreens, heated and powered front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and customizable interior lighting.
There’s plenty of room for adults to spread out in the first two rows, and kids will be comfortable in the optional third-row seating.  Large door pillars reduce visibility, but that problem can be easily fixed with the optional surround-view camera system. Other optional upgrades like massaging seats, soft-close doors, and noise-reducing glass are available for drivers who want to ride in extra luxury.
Even with the base 335-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder, the X5 can fly to 60 mph in a mere 4.7 seconds, but the real thrills come from the sport-tuned M50i trim and its 535-horsepower twin-turbo V8. There’s also a plug-in hybrid turbocharged six-cylinder/electric motor combo that gets about 46 MPGe.

3. Infiniti QX50

Starting price: $40,175 to $58,125
Selling points: Affordable base model, lots of standard driver-assistance
Weak spot: Luxurious cabin features are only available on higher trims
The
Infiniti QX50
starts at a lower price point than most midsize luxury SUVs, but that cheaper cost comes at the expense of some creature comforts. While all models come with keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and powered front seats, upscale amenities like real leather seats, wood trim, and a power liftgate are only available on the mid-level and upper trims.
Going from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, the QX50 is far from the fastest vehicle in its class, but the 268-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder is adequate for most drivers. All models come equipped with a useful driver-assistance package that includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

4. Jaguar F-Pace

Starting price: $52,050 to $66,650
Selling points: Excellent cargo space, above-average towing capacity
Weak spot: No crash test data or ratings available
With 31.5 cubic feet of storage space behind its rear seat and 69.1 cubes with the seats folded, the
Jaguar F-Pace
could easily accommodate the cargo volume you need. It also boasts an above-average towing capacity of 5,291 pounds
The F-Pace is reasonably quick, going from 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds, and comes with three powertrain options: a 246-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, a 335-horsepower supercharged six-cylinder, or a 395-horsepower supercharged six-cylinder.
The interior is spacious with plenty of passenger legroom and luxury features like power-adjustable and heated front seats, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, wireless charging, and driver-assistance tech. Higher trims can be upgraded with heated rear seats, a surround-view camera, massaging front seats, or an air filtration system.

5. Lincoln Nautilus

Starting price: $45,285 to $67,905
Selling points: Conservative styling, optional rear-seat entertainment system
Weak spot: Base engine offers below-average acceleration
The Lincoln Nautilus won’t stand out in a crowd, but this five-seater has a lot going for drivers who want an unassuming yet luxurious family vehicle.
Power-adjustable seats, remote start, a digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inchtouchscreen all come standard, while posh upgrades like real leather seats, wireless charging, and heated seats are available with higher trims. You can also add a rear-seat entertainment system that’s sure to keep the kids occupied during long drives.
The standard 250-horsepower four-cylinder moves the car from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, while the more powerful 335-horsepower turbocharged V6 improves that time to 5.8 seconds. The V6 can handle highway merges comfortably, but the base engine might feel a bit sluggish to some drivers. The Nautilus can be optioned with either front- or all-wheel drive.

6. Mercedes-Benz GLE Class

Starting price: $57,200 to $81,200
Selling points: Off-road options, feature-packed tech
Weak spot: Add-on upgrades quickly drive up the price
Not only did the
Mercedes-Benz GLE Class
earn a five out of five rating from the NHTSA, but it was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS. The GLE comes with pedestrian detection, automatic emergencybraking, and blind-spot monitoring, while an optional driver-assistance package adds even more safety tech.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE Class also comes with an easy-to-use and intuitive infotainment system that includes features like an augmented-reality navigation system. It can be fitted with an air suspension for improved off-road capability, and its three powertrain options include a 255-horsepower four-cylinder, a 362-horsepower hybrid, or a 504-horsepower V8.

7. Porsche Cayenne

Starting price: $70,350 to $110,350
Selling points: Speedy acceleration, lots of customization options
Weak spot: Upper trims get extremely pricey
The
Porsche Cayenne
is a great family car, but its driver-centric features make for extra fun on the road. There are four powerful engines to choose from (including a fuel-efficient hybrid), a sport package that includes extra drive modes, and an optional air suspension. The performance-focused GTS trim can hit 60 mph in a mere 4.2 seconds.
One of the best things about buying a Porsche is that you can customize it as much as you like. Everything from the wheels, seats, and mirrors to the interior upholstery and tech can be selected individually, and many of the optional add-ons aren’t limited to higher trims

8. Volvo XC90

Starting price: $51,995 to $72,195
Selling points: A stylish interior, hybrid option offers excellent fuel economy
Weak spot: Slow acceleration on non-hybrid models
If you’re looking to cut down on fuel costs, or just want to help the environment, the plug-in hybrid variant of the
Volvo XC90
gets an impressive 55 MPGe. It’s also the speediest version of this seven-seater, going from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Unfortunately, both of the XC90’s non-hybrid powertrains dampen that acceleration time to just over 6 seconds.
The interior is somewhat minimalist, but it remains classy with heated front seats, four-zone climate control, built-in navigation, and wireless charging. Luxe upgrades include real leather seats, heated rear seats, automated parking, and a premium sound system. The Volvo XC90 also exceeds safety standards with a generous helping of driver-assistance tech and was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.
