How to Find Your Acura Radio Code

If you recently replaced or temporarily disconnected the car battery in your Acura, you may have gotten locked out of your radio. To get your radio working again, you'll need to enter the radio code—which can be found on a decal sticker either in your glove box or in the fuse box of your engine compartment.
Many Acura models are equipped with a security feature designed to deter potential thieves. This security feature, informally known as the radio code system, initiates a total lockout of all the radio’s functions if it is disconnected from the battery.

As mentioned above, the radio code feature is part of a built-in security precaution designed to discourage petty thieves from breaking into your car and stealing your radio.
Car radios are among the most commonly stolen component in any car. This is because they are relatively easy to remove and they can be sold for a decent amount of money. With the radio code system in place, though, potential thieves know that they will not be able to use or sell the radio since they do not have the code to unlock it.
The problem, of course, is that very few people remember their radio code—or even knew it in the first place. This means, that a lot of people end up locked out of their radios and need to find that code if they’re ever going to use your radio again.

How to find your Acura radio code
The radio code for an Acura is a 5-digit code that is printed on a sticker or "decal" inside of the glove box. Open up the glove box and see if you can locate the sticker. If not, it might also be inside the fuse box in your engine compartment. Check there as well.
If you were able to locate the decal and the 5-digit code printed on it, all you need to do is enter that code into your radio and you will be good to go!
How to look up your Acura radio code
If the sticker was missing for any reason, then you will need to use your
Acura's vehicle identification number (VIN)
to go online and retrieve the desired information directly from the Acura code reclamation website
.In addition to your VIN, you will also need your radio device’s serial number.
You can find the radio serial number on the Anti-Theft Identification Card which should be in the glove box and/or tucked into the owner’s manual. If you can’t find the anti-theft ID card, you can get the serial number for your radio from the radio itself—even if it's still locked. Here's what you’ll need to do:
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, but do not start the engine
- Turn the radio device on. Its display should read: CODE
- Turn the radio back off
- Press and hold the #1 and #6 buttons on the radio. Turn the radio on again
- The display screen on the radio will flash two numbers, which are the first and second halves of the serial number. The first half will be the number with the letter U beside it and the second half will be the number with the letter L beside it
- Write these numbers down as one long string of right digits, excluding the U and the L
Now that you have the serial number and the VIN, you’ll be able to get your radio code from the Acura website.
