background
To find a 2005 Acura MDX radio code, you should first check the glovebox and engine compartment fusebox for an information decal that will have the 5-digit code that you need. If you don’t find the decal, then you’ll need to retrieve the code using your MDX’s VIN.
If you disconnect the battery in a 2005 Acura MDX, you may find that your car radio will no longer function unless you input the radio code. While this is supposed to ward off theft, most Accura owners or not aware of this feature until they learn about it the hard way.
Luckily,

Why your 2005 Acura MDX needs a radio code

Because they are relatively easy to remove and resell, car radios have long been one of the most frequently stolen vehicle components. In fact, radio thefts are so common that car manufacturers have had to devise anti-theft deterrents in order to protect your car and its radio.
One of the most effective anti-theft tricks is the radio code. With the radio code system, you will be required to input the verification code if your radio loses all power input from the battery. This would happen if someone stole the radio out of your car, but it also happens if your Acura's battery gets disconnected.

How to find your 2005 Acura MDX radio code

It can be incredibly annoying to suddenly be prompted for a code that you do not know or remember. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to find the radio code for a 2005 Acura MDX.
The first thing that you should try is looking inside the glove box. On the inside wall of an MDX glove box, there is a sticker or "decal" that has the radio code written right on it. The radio code is a five-digit number and it should be clearly labeled. Unless that sticker was removed for some reason, you'll be able to quickly and easily recover the code there.
If you don't see the sticker inside the glove box, it may have been placed inside the fuse box that is located in the engine compartment. Find that fuse box, open the lid, then look on the underside of the lid—there's a good chance you'll find the sticker right there.
In the unlikely event that the sticker is no longer there, there are a few other ways that you can recover the radio code for a 2005 Acura MDX.
Check inside your Acura’s maintenance journal and its owner's manual—one of those two items should contain the anti-theft radio identification card

How to look up a 2005 Acura MDX radio code

The one surefire way that you can always count on to find your radio code, sticker or no sticker, is by looking it up using your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). To do this, you will need to visit
Acura's official website
.
Before you can retrieve your radio code from Acura's website, you will be required to verify your identity
You will need to have the following:
  • Your Acura MDX VIN. If you don't know this 17-digit number, you can find it on the small plaque in front of the driver's seat just below the windshield, on your vehicle registration, on financial statements dealing with the vehicle (bank statements, loan agreements, proof of insurance documents, etc), and a number of other places as well
  • Your car radio’s serial number. You can find this on the Anti-Theft Identification card in the glove box
If you can't find the anti-theft identification card and you don't know your radio’s serial number, there is a trick that you can use in order to obtain it. Here is what you will need to do:
  • Turn your Acura’s ignition switch to ON, but do not start the engine
  • Turn the radio on. The display should read “CODE”
  • Turn the radio off
  • Press and hold the number 1 and the number 6 buttons on the radio, then turn it on
If done correctly, this will cause the radio’s display to flash twice with two different numbers. These two different numbers are two halves of the device's serial number. The first half of the serial number will appear alongside the letter U. The second half will appear alongside the letter L.
Once you have your car's VIN and serial number handy, then you shouldn’t have any trouble using Acura's official radio code recovery online portal.
