The Nissan Rogue has a consistently stellar sales record on its side, and to be fair, it’s received relatively few complaints. That being said, we can’t help but ignore the dozens of complaints drivers reported to the NHTSA about the 2020 model.
The majority of these gripes pertain to the Rogue’s forward collision avoidance. Forward collision warning uses a combination of radar, cameras, and lasers to detect potential slow-moving or stationary objects on the road and activate the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system to avoid hitting any oncoming object. Drivers have said that the 2020 Rogue’s AEB system is unpredictable—which raises the risk of an accident.
Nissan has not deemed these complaints widespread or severe enough to actually impose a factory recall on the forward collision warning system, but drivers have noted that the AEB system could suddenly engage without detecting a collision risk, even at speeds above 70 mph. Class action lawsuits regarding these functionality problems on the 2020 Rogue have been filed, but the dreaded recall remains at bay for now.
Other common problems reported about the 2020 Nissan Rogue include:

Overall, the fact that no factory recalls have been issued and the number of complaints isn’t overwhelming, the 2020 Rogue remains a popular and competent SUV.
Is the 2020 Nissan Rogue reliable?
It is. Despite these worrisome reports of the AEB system going rogue, the experts agree that this SUV is both safe and reliable. The 2020 Rogue earned a respectable 81/100 rating for quality and reliability for JD Power. As for the NHTSA, they gave the 2020 Rogue a 4-star safety rating.
Both the front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations of the Rogue only received four out of five stars in the frontal crash and rollover crash tests, but these imperfect ratings have not appeared to deter people from continuing to purchase the 2020 Nissan Rogue. A staggering 285,601 Rogues were sold in the US in 2021.
