Let’s say your car died in a parking lot after you went out for groceries. Once you got a jump and drove back home, you called up a friend to go to your local auto shop and purchase a new battery for your car.
You replace it with no issues, but the next morning when you start your car, it’s demanding a radio code before you can play your favorite playlist on the way to work. What gives?

Why your 2007 Acura TL needs a radio code

It’s unlikely that you’ve ever thought about your Acura’s radio as a potential theft target. While your radio may not seem like the easiest thing to steal, it’s actually one of the most frequently stolen vehicle components.
Well, it was, until recently, when radio codes were invented. These special codes were created to deter thieves from stealing radios, and they’re incredibly effective.
If your radio is disconnected from your car’s battery, it’ll ask you for a radio code upon being reconnected. You won’t be able to use any of your radio’s features until you, or a thief, enters this unique code.
While you can rest easy knowing that would-be thieves are scared off by this security measure, your car’s radio code may cause you grief the next time you replace your battery, especially if you’re not sure where to find your radio code.

How to find your 2007 Acura TL radio code

If you’ve found yourself in the above situation, locating your radio code to access your radio is usually pretty easy. Start by looking for a sticker in your glove box labeled “Anti-Theft Radio Code.” The sticker could be stuck to the inside of your glove box or on the outside of your owner’s manual.
If you can’t find it there, check the fuse box cover inside your engine compartment, which is underneath the dashboard on the driver’s side. Your radio code is a 5-digit code containing only numbers.

How to look up a 2007 Acura TL radio code

If you’ve looked through your glove box and under your engine compartment fuse box cover and had no luck finding the sticker, don’t give up yet. You’ll just need to perform a few extra steps to find the radio code.
First, you’ll need
your vehicle identification number (VIN)
. This one is easy to find—just look for it printed on your insurance card, in your registration documents, or stamped on the driver’s side door jamb or dashboard.
Once you have this number recorded, you’ll need to retrieve your radio’s serial number. Follow these steps to find this number:
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON
2. Turn on your radio and make sure the display screen reads CODE. If you don't see this message, pull the backup fuse for 1 minute and then return to step 1
3. Turn your radio off
4. Press and hold the 1 and 6 radio preset buttons. Then, turn your radio back on
5. The first screen will display a U and the first four digits of the serial number (for example, U2200)
6. The second screen will display an L and the last four digits of the serial number (for example, L0055)
7. Ignore the U and L and write down all eight digits
Now that you have the VIN and your radio’s serial number, you can finally look up your car’s radio code and access your radio again. There are three ways to look up this code:
