The 2000 Corvette, For When You Wanna Roll With Your Peeps

The 2000 Corvette is an affordable classic car that has a lot of power and speed when compared to other cars of its time period.

Chevrolet
has made many great Corvettes throughout the years, and one of the coolest options out there is the 2000 Corvette.
Just as the classic Corvette that changed American car culture was a convertible, one of the coolest things about the 2000 Corvette is its convertible version. Here's a look at the 2000 Corvette that Chevy built to celebrate the new millennium.

The incredible power of the 2000 Corvette

At the center of every Corvette is its engine, as somewhat of a muscle car, the Corvette needs a lot of muscle. According to
Corvette Museum
, the 2000 Corvette was part of the Corvette's fifth generation, and this generation of the Corvette had a brand-new engine.
That engine was a 5.7-liter V-8 that got 345 horsepower. The 2000 Corvette's engine didn't receive many changes from the 1999 Corvette's, but it was still a fast sports car.
It allowed the Corvette to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds, and this was faster than many of its European rivals at the time. Sports cars like the Corvette are well-known for how fast they can go in a straight line, but Chevy also made sure that the Corvette handled well.
One of the new features that Chevy offered on this generation of the Corvette was active handling. Like the name implies, this system allows the Corvette to be more agile than usual. When that system is combined with the Corvette's powerful engine, drivers can easily beat many other sports cars from the same time period.

How did the 2000 Corvette compare with other Corvettes?

Another great thing about this generation of the Corvette is its looks. The fourth generation of the Corvette had a very dated look, as it was designed in the ‘80s. The 2000 Corvette, however, was designed in the late ‘90s, and modern Corvettes look very similar to the 2000 Corvette.
Other than the styling, the 2000 Corvette was naturally a more powerful car than the older models. This version of the Corvette is no match for the modern Corvettes in terms of power, however.
A 2023 Corvette Z06 is
a true speed demon
, and its 5.5-liter V-8 gets about 670 horsepower. That's almost double the horsepower that the 2000 Corvette got.

The 2000 Corvette is still worth every penny

One area where the 2000 Corvette has still done well is in its pricing. Chevy originally sold the car at a starting price tag of about $40,000. Currently, this Corvette can be bought for about $10,000.
Unlike the classic Corvettes from the ‘60s, the 2000 Corvette's price tag hasn't grown too much in recent years. This is a great thing since the 2000 Corvette is a car that's stylish and fast, but it won't break your bank.
The convertible version of the 2000 Corvette will make your car even cooler, and it'll still be pretty cheap. A drawback of this Corvette, however, simply comes with how old it is. The 2000 Corvette won't have many interior features, so drivers shouldn't expect a fancy-looking cabin.
