, McLaren has high hopes for the Senna. Their most responsive car yet, it’s expected to set new records on the racetrack. But as similar companies expand their lineups to include SUVs, buyers might be curious to know if the Senna is capable of doing anything besides win drag races and peel around curves.
The answer: not really. With room for two and absolutely no cargo space, flashy moms and dads won’t be seen picking the kids up from school in this hypercar.
Safety features common in more utilitarian models like adaptive cruise control are also not present in the Senna. Basically, it’s an extremely expensive toy.

Hypercar brands branching out from Senna-like track stars
McLaren is one of the last remaining car companies maintaining a purely performance-focused lineup. This year alone, two competing brands have introduced luxury SUVs and other vehicles with room in the back for groceries.
The $350,000 Ferrari Purosangue sits much higher off the ground than what people are used to seeing from the legendary Italian brand. Besides the SUV, it also continues to offer the Roma, a more modest-looking coupe.
Not to be outdone, Ferrari’s archrival Lamborghini also released the 2022 Urus, a $225,000 sports-utility vehicle with a supercar engine and seats for three kids.
In one respect, McLaren has evolved in line with its Italian competition: all three automakers now have plug-in hybrid models. But the electric powertrains in these cars are more for the sake of performance than for saving gas.
