LEGO and McLaren have teamed up again. They've worked together to put out a model of one of the
fastest cars
out there, a McLaren F1. The LEGO version isn't exactly aimed at kids, however. It's mainly for adult fans of the
supercar
who dream of having their own replica of the vehicle in tiny brick form.
Jerry's
got all the details on this new LEGO project, so read on to learn more.

What's the LEGO McLaren partnership all about?

According to
Brick Fanatics
, the engineering team at McLaren teamed up with a group from LEGO to work in secret for six months before the toy company released its version of McLaren's Formula 1 vehicle, which has to rank among the coolest LEGO car sets out there.
What's important to note about the LEGO version of the car is that it's not an exact replica of the 2022 McLaren. Rather, it's designed to represent a combination of the 2021 and 2022 race cars, the MCL36 and MCL35. Due to the timing of the development of the LEGO version, it displays the outward appearance of the 2021 livery but with a nod toward the new regulations that came into effect in 2022.
The collaboration between the teams from the car company and LEGO took place amidst an especially challenging set of circumstances. As a result of the pandemic, they had to do all of their work together virtually making the final product extra impressive.

A look at the McLaren F1 LEGO set

The LEGO version of McLaren's Formula 1 vehicle is truly astonishing in its attention to detail. For starters, it comes with a whopping 1,432 pieces.
All those pieces are intended to replicate the actual technology underpinning the real-life McLaren vehicle, and this fact didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated by the car's fans.
As one reviewer put it on the
LEGO
site, "I really enjoyed the build, the push rod suspension was really well implemented, the design was very much in tune with the real car, being a huge F1 fan this was a must, a fairly quick build but the end product looks awesome."
Of course, with the amount of work that went into the design of the LEGO set, it's no surprise that its price is on the high side. At $179.99, it's clearly a set intended for true fans of the car.
You may also have to wait to get your hands on one: it's currently listed as out of stock on LEGO's site.

Here's the lowdown on the McLaren F1

If you're interested in learning more about the MCL36's specs,
McLaren Palm Beach
has laid them all out on its website. The car boasts an impressive 980 hp engine, along with the ability to go from 0-62 mph in just 1.7 seconds. It can reach speeds up to 223 mph.
The 1.6 L V6 turbocharged engine, developed in conjunction with Mercedes, can also reach 15,000 rpm.
All in all, the car offers power that you'll find in few other places in the automotive world.
