Muscle cars like the Charger and Challenger are a well-loved part of Dodge
’s lineup. And as Dodge moves towards an electric future with new electric muscle cars
, they’re saying goodbye to the classics. Dodge, however, plans to send its cars out with a bang, bringing back iconic paint options, adding special edition plaques, helping customers customize their vehicles before they arrive, and bringing in some limited-run vehicles as well.
The 2023 Dodge Chargers' last run
The Dodge Charger is expected to be celebrated, according to Car and Driver
, with 14 different paint colors, including the return to some heritage ones like: Seven of these special edition vehicles will be noted with a plaque under the hood. This plaque will include “Last Call,” a silhouette of the vehicle, the name, and the locations where it was designed and assembled.
Additional special badges will be included on the 2023 Charger R/T for the engine. This badge will go on the fender and say “345” because the Charger R/T will have a 345 cubic-inch engine.
Any Charger Hellcat will also include a jailbreak model. This used to be exclusive to the Hellcat Redeye but Dodge has updated it to include all Chargers and Challengers that are Hellcat models.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger and its convertible options
A lot expected for the 2023 Dodge Challenger is similar to the Charger. The 14 paint options and heritage colors. The seven special editions with special plaques and “345” badges and even the jailbreak option for Hellcat models.
A difference unique to the Challengers coming out includes convertibles.
Dodge will not be doing the convertibles themselves, but if customers wish to have a Dodge Challenger convertible and are willing to pay $25,999 more, Dodge will send it to a third-party mod before it comes home.
The third-party modification company is called Drop Top, located in Brampton, Ontario. Since convertible Challengers haven’t been available since the 70s unless the customer finds a mod and sends out their car, this way, at least one journey will be cut.
The muscle car for families: the 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was expected to be a limited edition run in 2020 and never seen again. This SUV, however, is returning as part of this Last Call event. Orders are being taken this month (September), and deliveries are expected to roll out in early 2023.
The Durango SRT Hellcat will have the same engine as its 2020 counterpart, a 710 horsepower Hellcat V8 offering 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds for when you’re late to soccer practice.
