background
When shopping for a new family car, there’s a variety of factors to consider. Depending on the size of your family and the stage of life that you’re in, there’s most likely a
Honda
to fit your needs.

The best Honda SUV

The 2022 Honda Passport was ranked as the best two-row SUV, with a score of 8.3 out of 10. While the starting price is a bit higher than average, if you don’t need a third row, there are plenty of standard features to be happy about.
The five-seater has a potent 3.5-liter V6 engine and 280 hp with 262 lb-ft of torque. Available in front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive, the auto gets about 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
The Passport is a joy to drive and the steering is nicely weighted. Though the SUV can get wobbly on rough terrain, it “feels rather agile and composed on the open road, though it only has modest off-road capability,” according to
U.S. News
.
The interior has minimal use of hard plastics and sports a user-friendly 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additional standard features include push-button start, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and proximity keyless entry.
The Passport offers one of the largest cargo spaces of any two-row midsize SUV. It features 41.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and when you fold them down, you’ll get a whopping 77.7 cubic feet of space. The ample amount of room makes storing camping gear, large boxes, and suitcases a breeze.
According to U.S. News, “
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration [NHTSA]
gave the 2022 Honda Passport an overall safety rating of five out of five stars.” The reliable SUV starts at $37,870 and for the midrange TrailSport trim, you can expect to pay $42,470.

The best Honda Mini-Van

The 2022 Honda Odyssey is a serene ride with a powerful engine. It can seat up to eight people with an EPA of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. As far as ranking, this minivan scored an 8.9 out of 10 with U.S. News.
The Odyssey offers tremendous value and quality for its price. Starting at $33,040, the car comes with “38.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row, up to 92.3 cubic feet behind the second row, and up to 158 cubic feet behind the front row,” according to U.S. News.
The minivan also has a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. And the NHTSA gave the vehicle five out of five stars as well.
There’s plenty of headroom and legroom in the well-rounded vehicle, and passengers in the third row will be quite comfortable as well. According to U.S. News, “Honda’s Magic Slide second-row seats can be moved in various ways, such as pushing the two outboard seats together, farther apart, or closer to the front row.”
Four complete sets of LATCH connectors are located in the Odyssey along with a straightforward and responsive infotainment system.
The Odyssey gives drivers the ultimate control.
“CabinWatch displays a video feed of the second and third rows through the available touch screen, and CabinTalk turns the stereo into a PA system that lets the driver speak to rear-seat passengers,” notes U.S. News. And CabinControl gives the driver access to the rear-seat entertainment system and climate settings.

The best midsize Honda

The 2022 Honda Accord was voted the best midsize car. The vehicle has five seats, intuitive features, and a large, upscale interior. With the standard trim, you’ll get a 192 hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
But if you’re craving quick and seamless gear changes, you can opt for a 252 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The seats are comfortable and its powerful performance makes for a fun, athletic drive.
The Honda Accord has a higher than average starting price of $26,120 but can climb up to the $38,000 range for the Accord Touring. The mid-range Accord EX-L starts at $32,440.
The car has a roomier backseat than the
Honda Civic
and a ritzier cabin than the Toyota Camry. The Honda Accord’s interior is full of soft-touch materials and has a sleek and modern feel. Don’t expect to hear much road noise as you play with the sharp graphics on the 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system.
According to U.S. News, “There are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the rear middle seat.” And, the 2022 Honda Accord also received five out of five stars from the NHTSA.

The best hybrid and electric car

The 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid beats out all the rest in this category. This high-class roomy vehicle offers spacious seats and an elegant cabin with faux wood and aluminum.
The Accord Hybrid seats five people and the base EX-L earns 48 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway. That’s impressive for a midsize sedan, but not compared to hybrid competitors.
The base, Sport and Touring trims all feature “a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, two electric motors, and a lithium-ion battery pack,” according to U.S. news. The vehicles crank out 212 hp, and since their electric motors provide instant torque, they accelerate quickly.
There’s plenty of trunk space, a LATCH connector system, an 8-inch touchscreen, and reliable regenerative braking. The NHTSA gave this hybrid—you guessed it—five out of five stars.
With a starting price of $26,670, the base trim is a solid pick that comes with a suite of driver assistance features that families can feel good about.
