When we think fast, we think
Lamborghini
. The Italian automaker made a name for itself by producing sleek and sophisticated speed demons that took the world by storm.
The company’s fastest cars typically have two things in common: a V12 engine and a rear mid-engine layout. Check out the features of these top roadsters that made our list of fastest Lamborghinis.

Notable contenders for fastest Lambos

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is now in its 10th year of production. It will be the last of its kind before the company further commits to making a splash in the electric vehicle scene. Since the 1964 Lamborghini 350 GT, this 6.5-liter engine is actually the first all-new V12.
The engine has 690 hp with 509 lb-ft of torque and can reach 62 mpg in 2.9 seconds. According to
Top Speed
, “In 2012, it was the first Lamborghini to have a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of under 3 seconds.”
The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster is arguably the most iconic and aerodynamic sports car in its fleet. It’s also been an inspiration for the automaker when inventing new models. The speedster boasts a 6.5-liter V12 with 759 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. Its top speed gets as high as 217 mph.
The vehicle was the first Lamborghini to incorporate the Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) as a comprehensive active feature. According to
Lamborgini,
“The ALA 2.0 system and aero-vectoring ensure the minimum drag on straightaways and the optimal aerodynamic load when cornering.”
The Aventador SVJ offers more extended side skirts, a lighter exhaust system, and larger air intakes. Due to the usage of high-pressure RTM molding technology, the roof is rigid yet removable.
An Aventador-based supercar, the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 had a limited production. The FKP 37 name pays homage to the late Ferdinand Karl Piëch who was born in 1937. Only 63 of these hybrids were made, with only 19 being the roadster version.
The company’s first hybrid supercar features the same engine as the Aventador. It cranks out 774 hp produced by a 6.5-liter V12 engine. With 513 lb-ft of torque, the auto’s top speed also comes in at 217 mph (due to some added weight from its electric powertrain).
The electric motor has 34 hp and 28 lb-ft of torque, giving the system a combined output of 804 hp. The rare beast can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds.

A fast and mighty SUV

Like most automakers, Lamborghini felt the need to
add an SUV
to its collection. The Lamborghini Urus was the company’s second-ever SUV and was released in 2018. Though it's the slowest car it produces, we wouldn’t exactly call it slow.
The best-selling car’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 gets a top speed of 190 mph. That’s about as fast as it gets for a car of this size. It also produces 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The eight-speed automatic can reach 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
Ready for any terrain, the car is said to have the “soul of a super sports car and the functionality of an SUV,” according to Lamborghini.
The Urus has incredible performance, exceptional driving dynamics, and an elegant design. The luxury car also offers connected navigation services and peace of mind with vehicle status reports and various remote settings.

Between 2013-2014, only 13 Lamborghini Venenos were made to celebrate the Italian company’s 50th anniversary.
The Veneno offers a striking, carbon-fiber body, making it 275 pounds lighter than the Aventador. The vehicle only needs 2.8 seconds to accelerate to 62 mph. With a 221 mph top speed, that makes the Veneno the fastest Lamborghini to date.
According to Top Speed, “Fitted with the same naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 found in the Aventador, it sent a whopping 750 horsepower and 690 Nm (509 pound-feet) through its four wheels via a unique type of seven-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission.” The transmission is known as an Independent Shifting Rod (ISR).
The
Lamborghini Huracán
has a robust powertrain and starts at about $213,000. As reported by
MotorBiscuit
, “One of these Lamborghinis built by AMS Performance makes 2,000 hp and runs a seven-second quarter-mile.” And with 1,279 lb-ft of torque, our jaws are on the floor.
However, you’ll typically find the base model with a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine. It features 602 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque.
The car offers different safety options than you may be used to. “The Huracán lacks the driver-assistance technology commonly found on more prosaic vehicles. Instead, this purebred supercar has a host of performance assists that help the driver maintain control at triple-digit speed,”
Car and Driver
notes.
If you’re looking for more than just the basic package, the Alpha 12 kit will set you back somewhere between $77,000 to $97,000. Your supercar will get about 1,200 hp, but if your sights are set on a whopping 2,000 hp, expect to drop some serious cash.
