911 Baja from behind
If you’re on the hunt for a
new car
, you could do a lot worse than a used Porsche 911. The iconic sports car is entering its 58th year of production, and recent models have been praised for their longevity and reliability.
The 911 is also known for its versatility, as demonstrated by this insane “Baja” mod from Russell Built Fabrication. Boasting giant fender flares and more than a foot of suspension travel, it can off-road with the best of them.
Excitingly, this particular model is up for public auction, but considering the custom specs, it might cost more than your house!

As explained by
Road & Track
, this is a 964-generation Carrera 4 Cabriolet 911, converted by Russell Built Fabrication to perform outrageous feats of off-roadery!
It is 15 inches wider than the original, but most of the body has been replaced with carbon fiber, so it weighs just 2800 pounds. The Baja 911 has 360 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a custom 3.8-liter air-cooled engine and G50 six-speed manual transaxle.
The driver and passenger sit in carbon bucket seats and are protected by an integrated roll cage. The interior is fitted with high-end accessories, including a precision steering wheel from Sparco. In short, this car is a beast, expertly modded to handle any off-road scenario (and it’ll look cool in your driveway too).

So how much does the Baja 911 cost?

MORE: The classic 1965 Porsche 911: A car enthusiast’s dream
The Baja 911 was listed on the
Collecting Cars
public auctions website last month. But despite receiving several bids of $200,000, the auction closed without a sale.
So how much does this car cost? That’s the million-dollar question.
Ok, maybe not quite a million, but considering this prototype was only built in 2019, and only has 5,600 miles on the odometer, it could easily sell for $500,000. In fact, when it was first built, Russell Built Fabrication set an asking price of $650,000, with a pared-down version available for $380,000.
Oh well, maybe one day!
