background
One of the most iconic cars in history is the Chevrolet Corvette—especially, the 1957 Corvette. Even today, this iconic car can be seen on the road and in movies.
Chevrolet
also keeps on improving the Corvette with each new model.

Chevrolet's 1957 Corvette

The coolest thing about the 1957 Corvette is that it was experimental; it was a unique model that evolved from creative engineering and set the stage for future Corvette models. It also helped shape the future automotive design for other sports cars through adopting advanced features. Even more amazing: according to
Corvette Sport
, in 1957, you could own a new Corvette for about $3,200.
Prior to the 1957 Corvette, Chevy wasn't sure if the car was going to have a long line. From 1955 to 1957, the Corvette evolved to become one of the most promising cars out there, which made it be taken seriously as a sports car. This was especially true after the huge facelift it got in 1956 and continued through 1957 and beyond.

What are the specs of the 1957 Corvette?

One of the newest things in the 1957 Corvette, according to the
Corvette Museum
, was the inclusion of fuel injection, leading the car to be a pioneer in the automotive industry by providing the power of one horse for each cubic inch. Standard equipment included a 3-speed transmission with a potential Powerglide transmission add-on. At the time, it was the most remarkable car for its looks, comfort, and luxury.
The 1957 Corvette features shock absorbers, as well as an anti-friction steering option and balanced linkage. The seats are vinyl, and there were a ton of interior options that could be added, such as heated seats. The exterior features a fiber-glass plastic body and sculpted side panels featuring a lacquer finish, while the hood is front hinged with the latch release inside and automatic support.
On convertible versions, the top can be concealed well behind the seats for a neat look. You can choose between a fabric top, which is manually operated or power operated, or a plastic hardtop, which can be removed. You also get your choice of colors from white to red to blue.

Changes in the Corvette over the years

The Corvette has gone through numerous changes throughout its lifespan. The biggest changes are in relation to increasing its horsepower. The interior isn't excluded and the tachometer was moved to below the speedometer. In 1960, the Corvette increased its 283 horses to 315 horsepower.
The changes don't stop there either. In 1961, the horsepower increased to 360. In 1963, a whole new Corvette was released—the Sting Ray, introducing a coupe body. There were also options for an automatic transmission or manual transmission. By 1968, a new model had come out with a whole new shape.
By 1984, the Corvette had again been entirely redesigned. This model has more clearance, but a lower center of gravity. Since then, the performance standards have increased and the love for the iconic Corvette has only grown.
