Bourbon Drive-In Theatre

Schedule: Weekends only (except for special midnight showings), rain or shine, open seasonally from April to November
Ticket prices: $9 for adults, $4 for kids 6 to 10, free for kids 5 and under.

The Bourbon Drive-in Theatre has been open since 1956, with seasonal showings from spring to fall, rain or shine!


The Bourbon Drive-In Theatre usually pairs new releases with classic picks, as all of their showings are double features. You can choose to view the second feature only, but be aware that your ticket price will remain the same.

How to hear the movie

You can listen to the movie’s audio on your car's FM radio. Alternatively, you can bring a portable stereo with speakers if your car doesn't have an FM transmitter or if you're concerned about draining the battery.


The Bourbon Drive-In’s concession bar offers classic American fare, like hamburgers, fries, hot dogs, and milkshakes.
You’re prohibited from bringing your own outside food or drinks, and this includes grilling, open flame fires, and glass bottles.

Sauerbeck Family Drive-In

Schedule: Open seasonally April through October (with occasional off-season screenings if weather permits), rain or shine!
Ticket prices: For new movies, prices are $11 per adult, $6 for kids aged 3 to 12, and free for kids under 3. For retro movies, the price is $15 per car.
Number of screens: 1
Pet-friendly? Yes, but they are the sole responsibility of their owners; disruptive pets and owners will be asked to leave. Service dogs are permitted.
One of the newest drive-in theaters in the nation, the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In was built from the ground up and opened in 2018
Though it only has one screen as of now, they hope to eventually build another and provide even more entertainment through additional screenings!


The Sauerbeck Family Drive-In shows new blockbuster movies daily, always as double features! They also have Summer Retro Wednesdays with prices reduced for the carload.
Large vehicles may be asked to move to the back of the lot to ensure that everyone can see the screen properly. Patrons are also welcome to bring chairs and blankets to set up in front of their own vehicles if they would prefer to watch the movie that way.

You can listen to the movie’s audio using your car radio or a portable stereo, with the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In providing high-quality stereo sound no matter how you choose to listen!


You can order snacks ahead of time using the online concession stand, although you will need to check-in at the concession stand when you arrive so that they can start preparing your order. You can also use this online service to order takeout.
If you want to bring your own food or drinks, you’ll have to purchase a $5 food permit (as most of the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In’s profits come from concessions).

Stanford Drive-In

Schedule: Open Fridays and weekends, seasonally from April-October.
Ticket prices: $6.50 for ages 12+, $3.50 for kids 4 to 11, free for kids under 4

The Stanford Drive-In is the second smallest of Kentucky's drive-ins, having a capacity of approximately 160 cars. Open since 1952, the Stanford also had a flea market running between 1999 and 2019.
A successful fundraiser in 2015 helped the Stanford go digital and will allow it to continue providing entertainment for years to come!


The Stanford mostly shows new releases, but will occasionally put on showings of classic films as well.
You may need to park in the back if you're driving a large truck or SUV to avoid blocking other viewers.

How to hear the movie

The Stanford Drive-In streams high-quality audio to your car radio, but if your sound system is outdated or you're concerned about your battery dying, you can listen on a portable radio instead. 


The concession stand at the Stanford Drive-In offers the best of traditional theater eats, including hot dogs and hamburgers, popcorn, french fries, and soft serve.

As of 2021, there are eight operating drive-in movie theaters in Kentucky.
No, you do not need to leave your car running while watching the film. As soon as you park, start the car for a few minutes to ensure the battery has enough juice to survive the duration of the movie.
If your battery does run out, drive-in staff and fellow moviegoers may have the necessary equipment to help you jumpstart it.
Unless the weather is particularly bad, most drive-in theaters continue to show movies in the rain. Before you go, check the theater's website or give them a call to make sure they're still open.
