Why is my Acura MDX making a ticking noise?

I’ve noticed over the past week that my Acura MDX is making a weird ticking noise when I drive. What could be causing the ticking noise on my Acura MDX?

The most common reasons an Acura MDX makes a ticking noise is a weak battery, corrosion on battery terminals, poor starter electrical connection, a bad ground connection, or a faulty starter motor.
Weak battery: A weak battery is the most common reason for a ticking noise. If you hear the clicking when you start the vehicle, there is enough charge in the battery to activate the solenoid (the source of clicking) but not enough to power the starter.
Poor battery connection: The battery on your MDX may be fine, but if the current flow is interrupted by a loose electrical connection, a broken wire, or corrosion on the battery terminals, it could result in a clicking noise from the solenoid when you try to start the engine.
Poor starter electrical connection: If the battery isn’t the issue, it could be the power cable for the starter motor and its connections from the battery to the starter motor. If this connection is interrupted due to corrosion or has become loose, a clicking noise from the starter solenoid may arise.
Although these are the most common causes, the best way to determine what’s causing the ticking noise is to take your MDX to a mechanic for a diagnosis—and while you’re at it, consider upgrading your
