! 2020 Acura MDX configurations
Technically, the 2020 Acura MDX only came in one trim level
with a few different package options. But look a little closer, and you’ll find that there are a couple of other options that you might have noticed at first: the 2020 Acura MDX Sport
Hybrid and the 2020 Acura PMC Edition. But let's start with the basics. The main trim level of the MDX allows you to customize it with options for both drivetrain and packages.
The standard drivetrain in most MDX models is front-wheel drive
, but you can opt for Acura’s exclusive Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). In some packages, SH-AWD is standard. When it comes to packages, the 2020 Acura MDX models could be customized with the following:
A-Spec®
: An appearance package to make an impact Advance
: Combines tech and style for a high-end resultEntertainment: Adds more advanced sound systems and rear-seat DVD players
All-in-all, there are 11 different possible configurations for your 2020 Acura MDX. Keep in mind that as the 2020 Acura MDX is already a couple of years out of date, you may not have access to as many package and trim options if you’re searching the used car market.
Every version, with the exception of the hybrid, comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine
and a nine-speed automatic transmission. But what, exactly, differentiates them? Let’s take a look. Acura MDX with FWD
The base model of the 2020 MDX comes with plenty of standard features to keep drivers happy, including:
Dual-screen infotainment system, including satellite radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto
Heated and 12-way adjustable front seats
Tri-zone automatic climate control
Forward collision mitigation and braking system
Acura MDX with SH-AWD
For around $2,000 more, you can add Acura’s SH-AWD. Keep in mind that opting for all-wheel drive will cause your fuel mileage to dip from 23 mpg combined to 22 mpg.
Acura MDX Sport Hybrid with SH-AWD
Speaking of fuel; if you’re looking for a more environmentally-friendly option in the line, look no further than the MDX Sport Hybrid. This one comes standard with SH-AWD, and the 3.0-liter V6 works with three electric motors to boost your fuel economy up to 27 mpg combined and your horsepower to 321. All of the features of the technology package we cover below come standard here, as well as the features on the standard MDX and perks like:
Leather-wrapped steering wheel
Ambient interior lighting

Acura MDX Technology with SH-AWD
Combine the power of the MDX with all-wheel drive with the convenience and comfort of the Technology package. If you’re seriously considering this one, though, keep in mind that the Sport Hybrid trim comes standard with many of these features and all-wheel drive, and only sells for around $2,000 more. A difference you may even be able to make up for with the improved fuel economy.
Acura MDX A-Spec® with SH-AWD
The A-Spec© package is an appearance package, though it includes the updates offered by the tech package. Step up your style with updated accents like sport ventilated front seats, Milano leather, and Alcantara trim. On the exterior, dark shadow accents on the bumper and grille create a more aggressive look. Models with this trim only come with all-wheel drive.
Acura MDX Advance with FWD
With the Advance trim, you’ll find yourself with room for six, rather than the usual seven, thanks to captain’s chairs replacing the second-row bench seat. You’ll also find ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, two USB ports added to the third row, and a head-up display.
Acura MDX Advance with SH-AWD
Up your game a little further by opting for the decked-out luxury of the Advance package with the practical drivetrain of the SH-AWD.
Acura MDX Sport Hybrid Advance with SH-AWD
The Advance trim of the more fuel-efficient hybrid comes with the features of the Technology package but adds front fog driving lights, Milano leather Seat trim, second-row captain’s chairs, heated and cooled front seats, and a 360-degree camera system.
Acura MDX Entertainment with SH-AWD
Starting price: $53,300 (Technology/Entertainment) to $60,050 (Advance/Entertainment)
The Entertainment package can only be added to models with all-wheel drive, and only ones that are equipped with either the Technology or Advanced packages as well.
If you do spring for it, though, you’ll get a slew of fun features that make the ride more enjoyable for drivers and passengers.
When paired with the Technology package you’ll get:
Second-row captain’s chairs
9-inch rear-seat DVD player
If you pair it with the Advance package, you’ll get:
16-inch rear-seat DVD player
Acura MDX PMC Edition with SH-AWD
If exclusivity is what you’re looking for, look no further than the Acura MDX PMC Edition. Each of these models, equipped with all-wheel drive, was manufactured by hand at Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center based in Marysville, Ohio—and there were only around 300 of them made.
Aside from rarity, a few other features set the PMC apart:
Valencia Red Pearl nano pigment paint
Leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching
Red stitched interior details
Black Milano leather seats with red stitching
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
ELS Studio 10-speaker stereo
