Windshield wipers are a key component of staying safe on the road—here is why windshield wipers can stop working while you’re driving:- Blown fuse: The windshield wiper fuse can blow if the wiper motor is overloaded. It will need to be replaced for the wipers to work again.
- Damaged motor: If the windshield wiper motor is damaged, you will not be able to operate your wipers at all. The motor will need to be replaced.
- Ice or snow: Windshield wiper blades can break down under a buildup of snow and ice. Try to remove it using a scraper and brush, and turn on your defroster early on.
- Loose pivot points: If the pivot points are too loose, you won’t be able to use your windshield wipers. The nuts will need to be tightened for proper operation.
- Wear and tear: You’ll need to replace your windshield wipers if they are damaged or worn down. Worn-down wipers won’t effectively clean your windshield and can damage the glass.
