Where is the OBD-II port located in a GMC Sierra?

I’ve been experiencing performance issues in my new truck, and I want to use an OBD scanner to figure out the problem. Where is a GMC Sierra’s OBD-II port?

In most newer models, the
GMC Sierra
’s OBD-II port is located above the brake pedal. Here’s how to find it:
  • Start by opening the driver’s-side door of your vehicle.
  • Locate your gas and brake pedals in the driver’s footwell
  • Look above the brake pedal (you may have to crouch down to see!)
And that’s it! From there, the OBD-II port should be visible above your GMC Sierra’s brake pedal. Once you’ve found it, you can plug in your OBD tool to scan for
trouble codes
in your vehicle.
Keep in mind, if you drive an older version of the truck, the OBD-II port may be in a different location. You can always check your owner’s manual for more detailed information regarding your model year and specifications.
