Where is the gas tank button on a GMC Terrain?
I just got a 2019 GMC Terrain and I’m in need of gas for the first time since I bought it. I have an embarrassing problem, though: I can’t find the gas tank release button. Where is the gas tank button on a GMC Terrain?

Congrats on your new GMC! And no shame in the confusion about the gas button: there actually isn’t a gas tank button on newer GMC Terrain models! To release the fuel tank door, just push on the door directly.
Since it’s your first time fueling your Terrain, here are some more tips you might find useful:
- The fuel tank is on the driver’s side in the GMC Terrain
- There actually isn’t a gas cap either—just push the pump directly into the fuel filler neck (the flap will push in for the pump)
- If you get confused at any point while pumping, there should be visual directions right inside of your fuel tank door
- Most Terrain engines (aside from the diesel engine) only require 87 octane fuel, but the 2.0 turbocharged inline-4 will require 93 premium
