Where is the Ford Escape engine made?

I’ve owned three Ford Escapes over the past two decades, and I love the look, features, and drivability of them. However, I’ve read that only a portion of Ford’s components is made in the United States. Where does Ford make the engine for the Escape?

According to numerous studies, only about 55% of components in Ford vehicles are sourced from the U.S. or Canada. Unfortunately, the Ford Escape engine doesn’t fall under this category. The Ford Escape engine is made at the Chihuahua Engine Plant in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Citing increased costs of producing engines in Canada or Mexico, Ford moved this manufacturing south of the border. While it doesn’t produce American jobs, it keeps costs under control and pricing competitive for American consumers.
