Where did the Toyota symbol come from?

I love the car symbols, especially Toyota’s. I’d like to learn more about it but can’t find a lot of information on its origins. What’s the story behind the Toyota symbol?

We also love the Toyota symbol! The
Toyota
symbol consists of the kanji mark for Toyoda, its original name and the surname of its founder, with a wing that represents speed.
The symbol for Toyota trucks is the kanji mark and a “shachihoko”, or animal with the head of a tiger head and the body of a carp. These represent the city of Nagoya where Toyota started.
The current logo was first used to celebrate Toyota’s 50th anniversary. The two overlapping ovals form a **T in the middle and represent a steering wheel. The oval that surrounds them was designed to give the impression that the world is embracing Toyota.
The Toyota symbol is globally recognized and is easily one of the most known symbols in the entire auto industry.
