When did the Mitsubishi 5-year warranty start?
I’m looking at buying a used 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage. I remember Mitsubishi changing from a three-year warranty to a five-year warranty, but I don’t know if that applies to this used car. When did Mitsubishi begin offering its five-year warranty?

, you’re looking at Mitsubishi’s 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty. This became standard on all of the automaker’s vehicles in 2018. Here are the warranties Mitsubishi has offered over the years:
- 1998–2003: 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty standard on all vehicles (except for the 1998 Eagle Talon)
- 2004–2011: 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty standard on all vehicles (except for the 2009–2011 Lancer)
- 2012–2017: 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty or 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty standard depending on the vehicle (except for the 2012–2015 Lancer)
- 2018–present: 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty standard on all vehicles
A 5-year basic warranty is a pretty great deal, and it’s 100% transferable to a second owner. However, the 10-year powertrain warranty is reduced to a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty when sold to a second owner, so keep that in mind for your used Mitsubishi.
