The best RV route from
Cody
to West Yellowstone will take you 3 hours and 40 minutes driving west, first on US-14 W, followed by a short ride south on US-89 S, and then following US-191 N before turning left on North Electric Street and arriving in West Yellowstone.
This route is mostly easy driving before you reach the park. Traffic on the highway can be a bit quick, but it is manageable.
Once you get into the park in
Montana
, the slower traffic is even more amenable to driving in a big rig, with speed limits mostly between 25 to 45 mph. You will encounter a few steep grades (8%), but these are still doable so long as you keep your speed low and use your exhaust brake.
There are plenty of turn-outs on this route, which allow you to pull over and take in the amazing scenery. These are also great spots to allow your engine to cool.
