Although the shortest route between Yosemite and the Bay Area requires under three hours of driving, there are still some fun places that you can stop along the way whether you take the shorter route by traveling via I-580 E and CA-120 E, or the longer route by using CA-4 and CA-120 E instead.
The road is known for being scenic either way, so it’s up to you to choose whether or not to savor the drive. However, the most scenic way to enter the park is via CA-140, which will take you through some small towns before bringing you into the park.
Otherwise, there are plenty of small towns, forest preserves, and other attractions that may catch your attention on the drive. Don’t be afraid to have fun with your trip and stop whenever you feel so inclined. You never know what you might find!
