What is used to cover electrical wires in cars?

While looking at my car, a friend told me that some of the electrical wires are exposed. What can be used to cover the electrical wires in my car?

Great question! If you suspect the exposed wiring is causing
electrical issues
in your car, you should
take it to a mechanic
right away. To answer your question, electric wiring in cars can be covered by a number of materials including:
  • Corrugated flexible conduit, a type of molded plastic piping that protects the cables from heat and flames.
  • Self-closing wrap, a non-expandable sleeving that is made from polyester yarn, microfilament and multifilament.
  • Braided self-closing wrap, which works great both as a flame retardant and dissipates heat.
  • Dual wall adhesive shrink rubbing, which provides thermal and electrical insulation, and provides and seal against moisture and chemical corrosion.
  • Cable sleeving, a highly flexible braided polyester sleeve that is used to cover cables.
  • Fiberglass sleeving, a braided fiberglass sleeve that provides high voltage resistance.
Mechanic bills can start to add up. That’s why you need a
car insurance
plan that delivers great coverage at a great price.
