What is the 2007 Ford Explorer’s oil type?

I want to get the oil changed in my 2007 Ford Explorer because I’m going on a road trip. However, the local oil lube place and my regular mechanic are both booked up, so I’m going to change the oil on my own. What is the oil type of the 2007 Ford Explorer?

If you want to get on the road quickly and avoid any mechanical issues moving forward, changing the oil yourself is a great option! The 2007
Ford Explorer
’s oil type is either SAE 5W-20 or SAE 5W-30. Which one you use depends on what lies under the hood:
  • If you have the 4.0-liter V-6 engine, use SAE 5W-30.
  • If you have the 4.6-liter V-8 engine, use SAE 5W-20.
The 4.0-liter V-6 will also require five quarts of motor oil while the 4.6-liter V-8 needs six quarts. Full synthetic is preferable, but you can also use high-mileage full synthetic oil if your ride has more than 75,000 miles on the odometer.
If you’re heading out on a road trip, now is the perfect time to review your car insurance, make any changes, or add coverage like
