What is my HOAs obligation after my roof leaks?

The roof in my condo is leaking and it damaged my couch. What is my homeowners association responsible for in terms of a leaking roof?

I’m sorry to hear your couch was damaged by a roof leak! Unfortunately, your HOA is only responsible for repairing leaks and paying for damages in the common areas of the building.
Be sure to check the Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs) or governing documents to understand what is the responsibility of the association.
If the roof leak was caused by a
named peril
in your home insurance policy, your insurance provider will cover the cost of repairs and damages.
Home insurance coverage can be just as confusing as HOA CC&Rs. If you have questions about coverage,
