Where are Honda cars made in Europe?

I’ve lived off and on in Europe for a few years now, as my wife has a European passport. I’m a huge fan of Honda, although I noticed I don’t see as many as I thought I would. That makes me wonder if Europeans have to import them or not. Where are European Hondas manufactured?

Interestingly, Honda cars are no longer manufactured in Europe. From 1992 to 2021, Honda was produced at two different places:
  • Honda Gebze Plant in Gebze, Kocaeli, Turkey: Produced the Honda Civic for Western Asian and European markets for 30 years.
  • Honda of the UK Manufacturing in Swindon, United Kingdom: Manufactured the Accord, Civic, CR-V, and Jazz for the European markets.
The decision to close the plant wasn’t purely economical or due to a lack of sales. The issue was that these two factories had production below 100%, i.e. only a portion of the facilities was being used. To consolidate its operations, Honda shut all European factories and subsequently moved them to the U.S. in 2021.
While you can’t buy a European Honda anymore, American-made Honda vehicles are every bit as high-quality. So if you decide to buy one, lower your
