I recently bought an older home without proper attic insulation and want to install insulation myself to cut costs. I am in the planning phase of insulating my attic and trying to learn more about different types of insulation. What is foil-faced insulation?

Foil-faced insulation is a type of batting that has reflective foil on one side to eliminate heat loss. The foil side is installed towards the warm air to reflect the energy and keep heat inside the home. This insulation material is primarily used in the attic and walls of homes located in warmer climates.
Because foil-faced insulation is a metal-based material, it is more expensive than other insulation products. Foil-faced material will also be more expensive to install if you live in a cold climate as it requires additional insulation products to work properly.
