What is a three-point turn in driving?

My driving teacher said that I’ll have to make a three-point turn when I take my driving test and I don’t know what that means. How do you make a three-point turn?

A three-point turn in driving is just a method of turning around. In order to make a three-point turn, you’ll need to:
  1. Drive forward with the wheel turned in the direction you’d like to go.
  2. When you reach an obstacle (like the curb), stop.
  3. Then, put your car in reverse and turn your wheel so that the front of your car straightens along your intended path.
  4. Drive forward again. You should have enough room to complete the turn.
You’ll typically only have to make a three-point turn in areas that are too tight for a U-turn, like narrow parking lots. However, it’s a good skill to practice in case it does come up on your driving exam.
