Great question! If the orange wrench icon lights up on the dashboard of your 2017 Mazda 3, there’s no need to worry about an immediate mechanical issue—the light serves solely as a maintenance reminder and illuminates at certain intervals in your vehicle’s lifespan.
In most cases, the wrench light will serve as a reminder to have your oil changed. It’s a good idea to have it serviced as soon as possible to ensure your vehicle is running at peak performance.
If you want to shut the light off without taking your car into the shop, you can reset it manually by pressing and holding the trip button with the ignition switch off. After approximately five seconds, the master light will flash to indicate a successful reset.
That said, it’s always a good idea to have your Mazda 3 serviced when the wrench light comes on as it can help prevent unnecessary damage to your vehicle and engine—you can also lose your existing warranty if you fail to adhere to the maintenance reminders.
