What does the cross-road street sign mean?

I don’t understand the cross-road street signs. What are they supposed to mean? I have to take a sign test next week and I’m nervous that this one will be on it!

Cross-road street signs are meant to alert you to an upcoming
intersection
or another road that is crossing your path. They’re used to warn drivers to watch for incoming or turning traffic and be prepared to slow down—or even stop if necessary.
The sign is a yellow diamond, which is characteristic of warning road signs. In the center, it usually has a big black cross, which is meant to represent the intersection of two different roads.
