Your friend could be right! Cleaning your car is an important part of regular maintenance, and the parts
under the hood
 sometimes need regular cleaning just like the rest of it does.
Because we use our cars so often, the electrical contacts or connectors do tend to accrue dirt and debris over time. In order to get optimal performance out of your car, the electrical connectors should be cleaned of any corrosion, oxidation, dirt, and grease.
If you’re inexperienced with electrical systems in cars, it’s advised that you take your car into a mechanic in lieu of doing it yourself.
A mechanic or experienced automotive professional may clean your electrical connectors with:
  • A paste of water and baking soda.
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Sandpaper
  • Toothbrushes
  • Lubricant such as WD-40
  • A speciality electrical contact cleaning solution
