What are some activities that can keep kids busy on a long car ride?

How can I keep my kids entertained on a long car ride? I'm going on a 10-hour car ride to visit my parents. It's the longest car ride my younger children have ever been on, and I don't want to hear fighting or complaining.

“There are plenty of
road trip games
that can help you pass the time and keep your kids from getting ornery.
Some of the most popular games and activities could include:
  • License plate game, where you have your kids try to find a license plate from each state
  • Mad Libs
  • An audio children’s book
  • Tablets with games, preferably educational ones
  • Cows in the graveyard, where you split into teams and the team that sees the most cows wins (feel free to use whatever animal you want)
The idea is to get as creative as possible while also allowing your children to use their imagination. You may even want to hold a family meeting before the trip to get some ideas from your children for activities.
Before you hit the road, make sure you have roadside assistance added to your policy. Talking to your kids about insurance is a surefire way to bore them to sleep (which might not be a bad idea for such a long drive), but it is a good way to keep you and your fmaily safe. You can get industry-leading help, such as tire changes, lockout services, and tows, for only $50 a year through
