What are anti-glare lights?
I read that there’s a light you can put in your windshield that helps with glare at night. I think they’re called anti-glare lights. What are they and how do they work?

You’re correct! Anti-glare lights can help protect drivers’ eyes when headlights shine too brightly in their windshield at night. That said, these lights are generally only found in trucks or big rig vehicles. Here’s how they work:
- Small LED lights are aimed toward the windshield—they’re usually purple in color
- Your pupils dilate less as the gentle shine from the LED lights reflects into your eyes
- When headlights come toward you, your pupils are less dilated, so the glare hurts your eyes less than it would without the LED lights
Some truck drivers swear by anti-glare lights and won’t make a trip without them, while others suggest that drivers wear polarized lenses instead.
