If your car’s AC clutch keeps kicking on and off the two most common causes are low refrigerant and a faulty compressor.
If the problem is low or leaky refrigerant, you must get a recharge for the Freon. Low refrigerant levels trigger the compressor’s low pressure control. When the pressure rises, it forces your AC to restart. Luckily, this is a fairly affordable fix.
If the problem is a bad compressor, you can expect to pay more (between $500 and $1,500).
There are three other possible causes: bad cooling fans, a faulty AC expansion valve, or a faulty condenser. A good mechanic can help you identify the problem.
While you wait for a solution, now might be a good time to make sure you’re happy with your
