Is the Subaru Forester an SUV or a crossover?

I’ve been looking at my options for a new Forester, and I’m getting a little confused. It seems that in some places it’s called an SUV, while other sources call it a crossover vehicle. For once and for all, is the Subaru Forester an SUV or a crossover?
