Is my 12V battery covered under the Tesla warranty?

The battery in my still-pretty-new Tesla is starting to go out. Ack! I’m freaking out because I’ve always heard batteries aren’t covered under warranties. Is that true?!

The 12V battery is covered under Tesla’s warranty! While most traditional car warranties don’t cover batteries (they are considered a “wear-and-tear” component of your engine), Tesla batteries are different, since they work as engines in other cars do.
The 12V battery is covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty that comes with every new Tesla. For all Tesla models, your battery is covered for 8 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.
