Is it worth buying an electric car in California?

My wife just got a new job in California so we are moving there in August. We’re selling our house in Toronto and hoping to maybe buy an EV when we get settled in. Is it worth buying an electric car in California?

Congratulations on the new job! Yes, with the fast-developing charging structure, the high gas prices, and the perfect climate, buying an EV in California is definitely worth it!
With California’s sky-high gas prices, it doesn’t take very long for the price of an EV to beat that of a traditional gas car. The Golden State has the highest percentage of electric car ownership in the country and its various incentive programs are probably why.
You can save up to $7,000 in state incentives with the purchase or lease of any eligible electric or plug-in hybrid car. To qualify, you must be a resident of California and earn under $150,000 per year (per person). If your car is on the
list of eligible vehicles for the incentive
, apply within the first 3 months of purchase you can get some great savings!
It can be a bit overwhelming to keep track of everything, especially when moving to a new country.
