Is a Subaru Forester a good first car?

My daughter just got her license and I’m going to help her buy her first car. She loves outdoor adventures so I’m thinking about the Subaru Forester. Are Subarus a good first car?

Subarus
make great first cars! They’re extremely safe, reliable, and easy to drive. In fact, I had an
Outback
as my first car.
If you’re thinking about the
Subaru Forester
, you can’t go wrong and here’s why:
  • Excellent safety ratings: Subaru is known for manufacturing vehicles with strong safety ratings, which is incredibly important when considering your teen’s first car, and the Forester is no exception. Its been given the Top Safety Pick and the Top Safety Pick Plus awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety since 2007.
  • Very reliable: Reliability is another essential criterion when searching for a good first car. J.D. Powers gives the 2022 Subaru Forester a reliability score of 84 out of 100 tying it up with the
    Jeep Wrangler
    and
    Nissan Rogue
    of the same year.
  • Great fuel-efficiency: Despite being an all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle, the Subaru Forester gets surprisingly good gas mileage and is a leader in its vehicle class. The base model, Premium, and Sport offer 26 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway.
Lower than industry-average maintenance and repair costs, relatively inexpensive car insurance, consistent and predictable handling, and standard all-wheel drive, are just a few other reasons that make the Subaru Forester an excellent first car.
