Is a Honda warranty worth it?

I’m considering purchasing a Honda but I’m not sure if I should get a warranty. Are Honda warranties worth the cost?

Having a car warranty can give you some added peace of mind, but it’s often not worth it depending on the price. Let’s take a look at whether or not a Honda warranty is worth it.
If you’re buying a brand new Honda, you’ll usually get a bumper-to-bumper warranty that lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Since these warranties are a part of the deal when you buy the car, you don’t have to worry about whether they are worth it or not.
Extended warranties are a different story. Many automakers (including
Honda
) offer extended warranties that last eight years or 120,000 miles. In general, experts consider these extended warranties a bad financial investment and not worthwhile.
If you buy an extended warranty with Honda, some of the things that are covered include:
  • Engine parts
  • Steering systems
  • Brakes
  • Suspension
A
warranty for a used car
is much of the same story. Most used car extended warranties aren’t worth the money it costs to purchase them.
While you’re looking into warranties, you should take some time to think about your car insurance.
