How much weight can the roof of a car hold?

How much weight can a car roof take? My friends and I want to go surfing during our road trip. We are only taking my 2019 Ford Expedition, so we don’t want to overload the car.

That sounds like a fun road trip! Knowing how much weight your car roof can hold is helpful to ensure the road trip is safe and enjoyable.
Generally, the weight limit of your vehicle’s roof depends on whether or not there is a moonroof. If you have a moonroof, the weight limit is usually 125 pounds. Without one, it’s usually 200 pounds. That said, be sure to check your car owner’s manual to confirm what your car can hold.
If your surfboards and gear are heavier than your car’s weight limit, you could install a roof rack or use a towing trailer.
Road trips are always fun, but you never know what can happen. For some extra protection, consider getting a roadside assistance membership before you leave. If you’re looking for roadside assistance at a great price, try
