How much does it cost to get a car battery replaced?

I have a Toyota Prius and I’ve had to jumpstart the battery a few times. My mechanic told me that I’m going to have to replace the battery. How much is that going to cost me?

You should first check and see if your battery is still under warranty. Some states, like California, have battery warranties that cover replacement within the first 10 years or 150,000 miles. In some other states, warranties cover replacements between 100,000 miles or eight years.
If your warranty won’t cover replacing your Prius’s battery, then a new battery for your Prius will cost around $2,200. To help make that new battery last, here are some tips to take care of your battery:
  • Turn off electronics before turning off your car (radio, lights, temperature)
  • Clean the battery terminals
  • Check to make sure it’s connected and not jostling around or coming loose
  • Ask your mechanic to test it whenever they perform other
    maintenance
  • Be careful of leaving it places that are too hot/cold
Another way to take care of your car is by making sure you have roadside assistance. With

in your pocket, you’ll never have to worry about being stranded again. Jerry partners with a monthly roadside assistant to provide jump starts, lockout service, key replacement, and towing for as low as $4.16 a month.
