How many watts is a factory car stereo?

I drive a 2020 Honda Civic Coupe. I’m seeing what modifications I can do to it and upgrading the stereo is an option. I think it already sounds pretty good, but I’m wondering what the difference is compared to an aftermarket stereo. How many watts is the factory stereo?

A new
Honda Civic
has a pretty powerful stereo, which is why you already think it sounds quite good! That said, if you’re interested in car modifications, stereo upgrades are some of the easier options.
There are three different 2020 Civic Coupes and their wattage varies, depending on the model:
  • LX Coupe: 160 watts
  • Sport Coupe: 180 watts
  • Touring Coupe: 450 watts
If you have an LX or Sport model, be sure to check your battery’s wattage and power before upgrading. As their factory wattage is lower, an upgraded stereo may end up being too powerful for your current battery.
Should you decide to upgrade your stereo, something else to consider is upgrading your car insurance to ensure you have the proper protection on your modifications. An easy way to do this is with the
