How many mistakes are allowed on a driving test in Arizona?

I live in Arizona, and I’m getting ready to take my driving test to get my license. Do I have to get a perfect score, or I can make a few mistakes and still pass?

After finishing their supervised driving period under their class G
learner's permit
, many new drivers are concerned about how many mistakes are allowed on a driving test in
Arizona
, so you’re not alone. To successfully pass the Arizona driving test and get your
driver's license
, you must score 80 or higher out of 100 possible points.
Drivers begin their test with 100 points, and the examiner will deduct points for infractions or mistakes. The amount of points deducted will depending on the mistake and its severity. For a better idea of how points are assigned, here are a few examples:
  • Failing to make a full stop will result in a 10-point deduction.
  • Improper use of turn signals will result in a 4-point deduction.
  • Driving too slowly will result in a 2-points deduction.
In addition to deducting points for mistakes, your examiner may automatically fail you if you do any of the following:
  • Drive dangerously or recklessly
  • Get into an accident, whether you’re at fault or not
  • Refuse to cooperate with the examiner
  • Commit any serious traffic violation, such as running a red light or stop sign, turning left on a red light, or speeding.
We hope knowing you can make a few minor mistakes without failing will calm your nerves a bit as you continue to prep for your driving test. Knowing you’re covered with reliable
car insurance
should calm you even more.
