How many Dodge T-Rex were made?

In the early 2000s, I used to play a driving game called Test Drive. I distinctly remember there was a really cool six-wheel Dodge truck that you could unlock in the game. One of my friends told me this was the T-Rex, and it got me thinking—how many Dodge T-Rex were actually produced?

You’re absolutely right! This game did feature a Dodge T-Rex. However, no Dodge T-Rexes were ever made.
Dodge introduced the Ram-based truck as a concept car back in 1997. What made it so notable, as you recall, is the six-wheel drive and three axles. It was even boosted by an eight-liter Magnum V10 engine—so you know this truck was designed for serious towing.
While the truck was well-received, it was never produced. Fortunately, aspects of the T-Rex made it into later vehicles—the V10 engine was later offered on some models, air suspension is currently offered as an option, and the T-Rex’s boxed frame is now standard on Ram trucks.
Your closest option to a real-life Dodge T-Rex is the
Ram 1500
TRX. You won’t get the iconic six-wheel drive, but you will enjoy a responsive four-wheel drive system and a supercharged V8 engine. Just remind yourself that it’s got the same frame (and enjoy the fact that you won’t have six wheels to maintain)!
If you’ve got your heart set on a V10 engine like the T-Rex, check out the 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 or the 2008
Ford F-250 Super Duty
. Then make sure to strap up with

for extra safety on your rugged off-roading adventures!
