How many 1966 Ford GT40s were made?

After watching Ford v. Ferrari, I became super intrigued by the 1966 Ford GT40. One of the most interesting aspects—other than its speed and style—is that I’m pretty sure that it’s super rare. How many GT40s did Ford make?

You’re right! Ford made only 84 GT40s in 1966, which definitely makes it one of the rarest Ford production models. Produced after two years of planning, the GT40 was famous for defeating the Ferrari team at Le Mans, courtesy of a 7.0-liter V8 engine that pushed out a whopping 492 horsepower.
Finding one of these beauties at auction or in the wild is extremely rare, but several of these unique

have come up for auction over the past few years. Today, a 1966 Ford GT40 can fetch anywhere from $4 to $12 million with an average price that hovers around $10 million.
