My daughter is starting to work on getting her license, and I want to make sure she’s as prepared as possible for the testing portion. How long is the written driving test in Illinois?

Illinois’s driver's license
written driving test consists of 35 questions, and most test-takers only need 20 to 40 minutes to finish it.
You need to get at least 28 correct answers (an 80% score) to pass. Here’s how the questions on the test are broken down:
  • 15 matching questions on road sign identification
  • 20 mixed multiple choice and true/false questions on the rules of the road

to study and practice for the test. Once you feel ready, you can walk into your local Illinois Secretary of State facility and take the test without an appointment.
