How do you protect car windows from break-ins?

How do I prevent car break-ins? I'm moving to Detroit but I'm worried about the crime. More specifically, I'm concerned about my car windows getting smashed.

“While you can’t necessarily protect your car windows from break-ins, you can take some steps to make sure your car isn’t targeted.
Options include:
  • Removing all valuables from your car
  • Installing an
    anti-theft device
  • Tinting your windows
  • Parking in a locked garage
Vandalism is an understandable concern, especially when moving into a more densely populated area. Consider adding
comprehensive coverage
to your car insurance policy. Comprehensive coverage will protect your car from perils such as fire, theft, and vandalism. Glass coverage is included as well, and it tends to be a very inexpensive option.
