How long can a landlord leave you without electricity?

I live in an apartment that has all of the utilities included in the rent. This is the first time I have ever been late on rent, and the landlord has disconnected the electricity. I know I can pay rent in the next day or so, how long can a landlord leave you without electricity?

Every state has different landlord and tenant laws. However, a landlord can not leave you without electricity for a missed rent payment.
Even if your landlord wants to evict you, it is against the law to perform self-help evictions where the landlord changes the locks or shuts off power and water to force the tenant to move.
If your landlord refuses to turn the power back on, contact your local housing authority to file a complaint.
